Fillers

Various injectable products can be used to plump out nose to mouth lines and deeper wrinkles, or to enhance lips for a plumper more youthful appearance.  Facial contouring can also be achieved by replacing lost collagen, helping you to look younger naturally.

Facial wrinkling begins to appear as the underlying collagen and elastin fibres begin to break and wear down.  This process is part of the natural ageing process and begins after the age of about 25, but a number of factors such as smoking and sun damage can accelerate collagen breakdown.

The most frequently used fillers are hyaluronic based (non-animal fillers) which replenish lost volume such as Restylane, Perlane, Hydrafil and Juvederm.  We also offer lip enhancement if you are seeking fuller, more youthful lips.

Common Questions

What is hyaluronic acid?

Many of the facial filling products used at The Lynton Clinic contain non-animal, stabilised hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body.  This means that once in the skin it works together with the body's own hyaluronic acid to create volume.  No pre-testing is required and the product is perfectly suitable for those who have reservations about using a product derived from an animal source.

What areas can be treated?

The most commonly areas treated are the ‘nose to mouth’ lines, lines around the mouth or for shaping the cheeks and chin.  Lip enhancement is also very popular.

How is treatment carried out?

The selected product is injected under the skin at dermis level with a very fine needle.  The substance then replenishes the skin’s natural volume, smoothing out lines and wrinkles thus helping to erase the signs of ageing.  It is also used to enhance lips or fill lip lines.

What does treatment feel like?

The injections maybe slightly uncomfortable but normally no anaesthesia is needed.  However, some products contain a local anaesthetic to help minimise discomfort.
